Is 0.999..... = 1?

Raju asked whether 0.999….. = 1 to Anita miss after the Maths class using these three proofs.


Proof 1:




On Subtracting equation (1) from equation (2), we have




From equations (1) and (3), 0.999….. = 1

Therefore, 0.999….. = 1


Proof 3:











Therefore, 0.999….. = 1

Anita miss was baffled and thinking that she cannot disprove any of the proofs, she said “Yes, 0.999….. = 1.” What would you say?
